Original German WWII Reichs Arbeitsdienst (RAD) Labor Service Officer "Robin Hood" Cap Dated 1937 Size 56The Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD), or Reich Labor Service, was a pre-WWII organization established in 1935 to provide compulsory labor service for young men and later women in Germany.
This Original German WWII RAD Officer cap is constructed from the organization’s distinctive earth brown wool. It is often referred to as a "Robin Hood" Cap. The front displays the correct metal RAD insignia, featuring the organization’s spade emblem and national symbol surrounded by wheat sheaves. The top is usually sunken in, though it can be pushed out if desired. The silver piping indicates it was for a Field Grade Officer (black piping was for EM and General Grade officers had gold).
The interior satin lining is lightly discolored and fully intact. There is a visible maker stamp, date and size under the leather sweatband (see last photo).
The cap remains in excellent overall condition, showing only light age and wear. The brown wool retains a tight nap appearance with no mothing and the cap mostly holds its original shape very well.
