Original Third Reich RAD (Reichsarbeitsdienst) Member Twist Stick Pin
This is an original Third Reich Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD – Reich Labor Service) member stickpin. The RAD served as the national labor organization of Germany, requiring young men and later young women to perform a period of labor service prior to military service. These stickpins were worn by members as a symbol of affiliation with the organization.
The oval badge measures approximately 14 mm and is constructed of zinc with a painted finish. The obverse features the distinctive RAD emblem consisting of a spade bearing a swastika, superimposed over a sheaf of wheat, set against a white field with a red border. The original paint remains exceptionally well preserved, retaining vibrant colors with only minor signs of age.
The reverse is Ges. Gesch. (Gesetzlich Geschützt) marked, indicating the design was legally protected, and retains its original twist-pattern stickpin. The pin exhibits only very light surface corrosion, consistent with age and storage.
Overall, this is an excellent condition example of a Third Reich RAD membership stickpin, displaying outstanding eye appeal with strong original finish and crisp detail.
