Original U.S. WWII Army 3rd Infantry Division Sleeve Patch
This is an original U.S. Army WWII 3rd Infantry Division sleeve patch. The blue field represents the loyalty of the soldiers who defend American ideals of liberty. The three white diagonal stripes represent the Division's numerical designation as well as the three major World War I operations in which it participated: Aisne-Marne, St. Mihiel, and Meuse-Argonne.
This original example is constructed with rayon-type embroidered thread. The patch shows honest service wear and age, including some scattered staining and discoloration to the white stripes. The olive drab border exhibits areas of fraying, loose stitching, and general wear. The overall appearance suggests that the patch may have been uniform removed, although we cannot say this with 100% certainty. Regardless, it has a great period-used appearance with plenty of character.
Overall, a nice original WWII 3rd Infantry Division sleeve patch showing honest age and wear. Please refer to photos for actual condition.
