Original German WWII Silver Infantry Assault Badge By Gebrüder Wegerhoff- This Second World War-era Infantry Assault Badge is crafted from silvered zinc, fashioned in the shape of an oval oak leaf wreath. At the apex, a German national eagle grasps a mobile swastika, while at the base, a bowtie adorns the badge. Across its diagonal axis, a depiction of the Karabiner 98k rifle, complete with bayonet affixed to the front of the barrel and a carrying sling suspended from the weapon. The reverse features a barrel hinge and vertical pinback, meeting a round wire catch, bearing the marking "GWL" encircled, denoting the maker as Gebrüder Wegerhoff of Lüdenscheid. Although much of its silver finish has succumbed to wear or the passage of time, it still boasts a molded hinge with pin intact, albeit with a broken molded catch on the reverse. Overall, it remains in very good condition.
