Original Imperial "Deutscher Flottenver" Naval Association Badge (German Navy League)
The German government contributed to the financing of the German Navy League (DFV), a patriotic society founded in 1898 that attracted over a million members before WWI. The Navy League aimed to promote public support for the navy. Pic 4 is a copy of a postcard from 1902, based on a design by Hans Rudi Erdt, depicts Prince Henry of Prussia, the club's patron. The handwritten note on the postcard calls for donations to the Navy League.

After the end of World War I and the November Revolution of 1918, the German Navy League was dissolved. The Weimar Republic and the Treaty of Versailles severely restricted the German Navy, and the monarchist naval enthusiasm had lost its foundation.

This badge is missing the pin from the back and there is a hole in the backing. Otherwise it is in very good collectible condition.

Please note: The postcard is for reference only. It is not included with the badge.
