Rare Original German WWII Bahnschutzpolizei (Railway Security) Officer’s Overseas Cap
This is an original Bahnschutzpolizei officer’s overseas (Schiffchen) cap, constructed of blue-grey wool with silver piping. The cap retains its original flat wire BeVo eagle insignia in silver-grey thread, correctly positioned to the front. Below the eagle is the period applied officer's flat wire cockade.
The exterior wool shows honest age and light wear consistent with service and storage. The piping remains fully intact and well defined, with no major damage noted. The form of the cap remains strong and displays very well.
The interior is fully lined in a light rayon-type material and shows moderate age toning and staining from wear. The sweatband remains present, though it exhibits typical period cracking and flaking to the artificial leather material, as commonly encountered on these caps. Stitching appears to be intact. We believe the cap is approximately a size 57. There are no markings or size stamps.
Overall, this is a rare and very attractive and well-preserved Bahnschutzpolizei officer’s overseas cap with pleasing patina and solid display presence.
