Original German WWII 1939 Spange To the 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class Ribbon Unmarked By Ziemer & Söhne
An original German WWII 1939 Spange (Clasp) to the 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class ribbon, awarded to recipients of the WWI Iron Cross who were again decorated for service during the Second World War. This example is an unmarked wartime production attributed to Ziemer & Söhne, based on known construction characteristics and design details.
The obverse features the correct spread winged eagle clutching a wreath with central swastika, above the trapezoidal “1939” date panel. The clasp appears to be silver construction, with the majority of the original silver wash worn away, leaving an even dark gray to brown patina typical of period used and/or aged examples. Details to the eagle, wreath, and date remain clearly visible despite the finish loss.
The reverse is plain and unmarked, fitted with the correct dual flat wire prongs for attachment to the WWI Iron Cross 2nd Class ribbon. The prongs remain intact and show honest age and oxidation consistent with wartime wear.
A solid, original example of a WWII Iron Cross 2nd Class repeat award clasp, exhibiting genuine field used or age character and suitable for both ribbon bar or loose display within a German awards collection. Overall in very good to excellent condition.
