Original German WWII Luftwaffe EM/NCO Steel Belt Buckle – 2nd Model – Schmolle & Co. 1940
This is authentic German WWII Luftwaffe enlisted/NCO steel belt buckle (2nd pattern), manufactured by Schmolle & Co., Menden, and dated 1940. The obverse features the Luftwaffe eagle in flight, surrounded by the characteristic oak leaf wreath on a pebbled field. This example shows honest wear, scattered surface oxidation, and areas of finish loss consistent with age and use. The steel construction gives the buckle a darker tone . Despite wear, the eagle and wreath details remain defined.
The reverse displays a catch, prongs, and rolled hinge. The buckle is clearly maker-marked “S&C” (Schmolle & Co.) and dated “40”, stamped beneath the catch area. The markings remain visible and consistent with known original examples from this maker.
Overall condition reflects genuine use, with age, oxidation, and surface wear but no structural damage. A well-preserved and collectible example of an original WWII Luftwaffe belt buckle.
