Original 1943 WWII “United States At War” Pictorial Map Stanley Turner With Sleeve
A colorful and highly detailed original 1943 WWII-era pictorial map titled “The United States At War,” illustrated by Stanley Francis Turner. This wartime production beautifully captures America’s massive industrial and military buildup during World War II, highlighting the nation’s role as the backbone of the Allied war effort.
The map features full U.S. coverage, with each state illustrated in vibrant color and filled with detailed depictions of natural resources, industry, and wartime production. Key elements such as iron ore, coal, agriculture, oil, shipbuilding, and aircraft production are all visually represented, along with military airfields, naval yards, and army installations. State flags, flowers, population figures, and admission dates are also included, adding to the map’s informative and decorative appeal.
Surrounding the map are illustrated vignette panels depicting major wartime events involving U.S. forces, including Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal, the Battle of Midway, North Africa landings, and European operations. A lower panel features period infographics showing the dramatic increase in U.S. military personnel, war production, and war bond drives, offering a snapshot of America’s wartime mobilization.
An inset map titled “The Ocean Fronts” highlights global theaters of war, while the reverse side displays a detailed black-and-white world map with global locations, air routes, and strategic points of interest.
The map retains its original printed sleeve, marked “The Map That’s All Information – The United States At War,” priced at 25 cents. Condition is very good overall, showing typical age and handling wear, including light toning, minor edge wear, and fold lines as issued. The colors remain strong and vibrant, and the map displays exceptionally well. There is one fold that has an old tape repair, which is stable and does not detract from the overall display.
