Original German WWII Luftwaffe M40 Single Decal Helmet Q66
This is an authentic German WWII Model 1940 Luftwaffe single decal combat helmet, manufactured by Quist (Q) and marked Q66, indicating a size 66 shell. The rear skirt bears the lot number “4887”, corresponding to Luftwaffe helmet production.
EXTERIOR:
The helmet retains its original textured blue-gray (feldblau) combat paint and early pattern Luftwaffe eagle decal, which remains about 75% intact. The decal shows wear consistent with age and service. The paint shows light to moderate surface wear, scattered scuffs, and traces of light rust patina.
INTERIOR:
Inside, the helmet retains its original leather liner system with the zinc liner band, all in excellent condition. The liner leather remains supple, showing natural age and use but no damage. The original drawstring is present but it has been broken and retied. There is no size stamp on the liner but its most likely a size 58-59. Comes with a leather chinstrap which is not marked.
CONDITION:
Overall this helmet and liner is in very good to excellent condition.
