Original German WWII 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger By WKC With Portepee
This is an original German WWII 2nd Model Luftwaffe officer’s dagger manufactured by WKC of Solingen.
The hilt retains its classic Luftwaffe design, with a detailed eagle-shaped crossguard and round pommel decorated with oak leaves and a swastika. The fittings display an even gray patina consistent with age.
The attractive orange grip remains tightly fitted and retains its complete silver spring-wire wrap. Scattered age spotting is present throughout the grip, along with a noticeable chip on the reverse near the pommel.
The blade is in near-mint condition, remaining bright and retaining abundant original factory crossgraining. Light runner marks are present from being drawn in and out of the scabbard, along with a few very minor gray spots near the tip on the reverse. The blade remains unsharpened, with clean edges and an excellent tip. It is clearly marked beneath the crossguard with the WKC knight’s head trademark above “WKC Solingen.”
The original gray steel scabbard retains its pebbled panels and decorative oakleaf bands. Areas of surface rust are present, primarily concentrated on the reverse, with additional oxidation on both hanger rings. The hanger ring bands are aluminum and retain good definition to their raised oakleaf decoration. The scabbard remains straight and free of significant dents.
Completing the dagger is its original silver officer’s portepee. It remains wrapped around the hilt and displays expected age and service wear, including toning, fraying, and separation near the stem.
Overall, this is an attractive WKC Luftwaffe officer’s dagger highlighted by its desirable orange grip, original portepee, and exceptionally well preserved blade.
