Original German WWII Heer Steel Belt Buckle With Tab -- Berg & Nolte 1941
This is an original German WWII Heer enlisted/NCO belt buckle manufactured in 1941 by Berg & Nolte of Lüdenscheid. The buckle is constructed of stamped steel and shows significant combat wear, with most of the factory applied fieldgray paint worn away on the front and sides, leaving a naturally patinated steel surface with scattered rust specks and age toning. Despite the loss of finish, the classic “Gott Mit Uns” design with its Wehrmacht eagle and oak-leaf wreath remains well defined, displaying strong detail across the pebbled background.
The reverse retains more of its original paint and is clearly marked “B&N 41,” confirming early war production by Berg & Nolte. The prongs and catch assembly are fully intact and match the overall patina of the buckle. Attached is the original brown leather tab, which remains firmly stitched in place and shows the expected softening and darkening from field use. The maker’s stamp and 1941 date on the tab are faint from handling but still visible upon close inspection, supporting this as an untouched and correctly matched set.
Overall, this buckle presents as a well-used but completely authentic mid-war Heer example, retaining its original hardware, markings, and leather tab. Its honest wear and uncleaned appearance give it the desirable character of a true field-carried piece, an appealing addition to any collection of WWII German combat equipment.
