Unissued Original German Late-War WWII Heer (Army) Steel Belt Buckle Marked RODO
This original late-war Heer belt buckle is manufactured from magnetic steel and retains its original factory-applied field-gray finish. The surface shows light storage and handling wear with minor paint loss, entirely consistent with late-war economy production and not postwar use.
The obverse displays the standard “GOTT MIT UNS” (God With Us) legend surrounding the Army eagle and wreath. The strike exhibits the flatter characteristics typical of late-period manufacture, reflecting reduced tooling detail and wartime material constraints during Germany’s final production phase.
The finish shows honest age with areas of paint loss, oxidation, and light surface rust. The details of the eagle, wreath, and lettering remain well-defined and clearly visible. The reverse retains its original catch and prongs, all intact and functional, showing typical wear and patina from age.
This example is attributed to RODO (Robert Dold, Offenburg), a known late-war producer of steel buckles, often encountered with this type of subdued finish and construction.
Although the buckle exhibits some finish flaws we believe it is unissued and in good condition.
