Original German WWII Award Document War Merit Cross 2nd Class With Swords (Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern)-

This is an original late war award document (Urkunde) issued on 15 November 1944 to Obergefreiter Karl Jenisch, who served with Wi. Komp. (t. mot.) 11 — the 11th Semi-Motorized Supply Company. Such units were responsible for logistics and transport support for frontline formations, playing a vital role in maintaining supply operations during the later stages of the war.

The document awards Jenisch the War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords (Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern), presented “In the Name of the Führer” for meritorious service under combat-related conditions. The award was given at Army Headquarters (A.H.Qu.) and bears the official Wehrmacht service seal (Dienstsiegel).

It is signed by General der Panzertruppe Otto von Knobelsdorff, the Commander-in-Chief (Oberbefehlshaber) of the 1st Army (1. Armee). Von Knobelsdorff was a noted Panzer commander, previously distinguished in France and Russia, who led the 1st Army during the Allied advance through France and into Germany in late 1944.

The document measures approximately A5 size (about 6" x 8.25"), printed on period-type paper, showing typical age toning, small stains, and fold lines consistent with wartime handling and storage.

A very nice original 1944-dated Wehrmacht award document with a desirable late-war Panzer general signature, ideal for framing or pairing with the medal.
