An authentic German WWII Bakelite butterdish (Butterdose), the small round ration container issued to Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS soldiers as part of their mess kit. Designed with a quarter-turn locking lid, it was used to store butter, margarine, jam, or cheese rations in the field.
This example is the scarcer black Bakelite variant, showing only minor surface scratches inside/out and remaining in good condition. A desirable and practical piece of wartime field equipment for any collection.
