Original German WWII Black Butterdish (Butterdose)
An authentic German WWII butterdish (Butterdose), the small round ration container issued to Wehrmacht and Waffen SS soldiers as part of their personal kit. Designed with a quarter-turn locking lid, it was used to store butter, margarine, jam, or cheese rations in the field.
This example is the scarcer black variant, showing only minor surface scratches outside. The lid does have a small chip on the edge. It is a fine thread butterdish and a good display piece. A desirable and practical piece of wartime field equipment for any collection. Overall in very good condition.
