Original German WWII Early War Continental A-Frame Marked & Dated 1941
Offered is an original German WWII continental manufactured A-Frame (Gefechtsgepäcktragegestell), clearly marked and dated 1941. This desirable early-war example is constructed of tan webbing with leather support straps and retains its original wartime hardware throughout.
The A-Frame features a clear manufacturer's stamp on the lower front webbing section reading "Kontum A.G., Walsrode, Hannover, 1941", confirming wartime production. The webbing remains exceptionally strong and clean, showing only light age toning, minor storage wear, and evidence of limited field use.
All leather straps remain present and intact. The leather is supple and displays only moderate age-related wear, retaining excellent flexibility, appearance and could use some leather conditioner or left alone. The gray-painted steel hardware is complete and functional, with much of the original factory finish still present. There is minor surface oxidation in isolated areas consistent with age, but no significant corrosion or damage.
One noteworthy feature is the brown leather mess kit retaining strap, which is original wartime construction. The strap is riveted to one side and appears to have been modified either during wartime service or shortly thereafter. As configured, the strap is too short to secure a mess kit in the standard horizontal position and will only accommodate a vertical attachment.
Overall, this is a very attractive and well-preserved 1941-dated continental A-Frame that displays beautifully and remains in excellent condition. With its clear manufacturer markings, strong webbing, complete hardware, and lightly used appearance, it would make an outstanding addition to any Wehrmacht field gear collection or display.
