This is an authentic German WWII Army (Heer) officer’s dagger, manufactured by Carl Eickhorn, a well-known and desirable Solingen blade maker. The dagger features the classic late-war zinc-based fittings with a silvered finish. Please note: The portepee and hanger are not included.
Handle (Grip, Crossguard, & Pommel):
The zinc crossguard bears the distinctive Wehrmacht eagle clutching a swastika, a symbol of the German armed forces during the period. The deep orange grip remains intact and free from defects or toning, and shows very minimal age. The zinc ferrule and pommel shows great details with some age.
Blade:
The blade is in excellent condition, but does have some gray spotting throughout and showing the Eickhorn maker’s logo on the reverse, a seated squirrel with blade, etched near the ricasso. The blade show minimal wear.
Scabbard:
The scabbard retains its original silvering with finely detailed pebbling and shows some light tarnishing throughout. Overall, it remains in excellent condition.Retains its original scabbard throat screws, which remain untouched
This dagger was purchased from the US WWII Veteran's son. A well-preserved example of a German Army officer’s sidearm and would make a superb addition to any WWII militaria collection.
