Original German WWII Heer Officer’s Dagger (Unmarked) With Hanger & Portepee
This is an original German WWII Heer (Army) Officer’s Dagger, complete with its hanger and portepee. The dagger remains a solid, honest example showing typical age and service wear.
Blade: The blade is unmarked, as sometimes encountered on period examples. It retains a strong presence of its original crossgrain, which is still clearly visible under light. There is some even graying and light oxidation on both sides, consistent with age, but no major damage or sharpening issues noted.
Grip & Fittings: The dagger features the classic orange grip, which remains in very good condition with no cracks or repairs. The pommel fittings, including the Heer eagle and crossguard, show a pleasing aged patina with good detail still present.
Scabbard: The scabbard retains much of its original finish, now toned with age to a darker patina. The pebble-grain surface is still well defined, and the fittings remain secure. There is typical surface wear throughout, but no major dents or structural issues.
Hanger: The dagger is accompanied by its original hanger. The fabric is broken on one side, shows age, damage, with fraying and deterioration present. However, all aluminum hardware, including clips and buckles, remains intact and original to the dagger.
Portepee: The portepee is present and complete, showing minor wear and age toning. The knot and weave remain intact.
Overall: A complete and display-ready Heer Officer’s dagger set, featuring an attractive grip, visible blade crossgrain, and desirable original accessories. While showing honest age and storage wear, particularly to the hanger, this remains a solid example of a classic German WWII edged weapon.
