Original German WWII Heer Officer’s Signals Visor Cap Named Unit Marked 1./Nachrichten-Abteilung 32 Size 59

Original German WWII Heer officer’s visor cap constructed from fine field-gray wool with a dark green wool center band. Golden-yellow wool piping surrounds the crown and borders the upper and lower edges of the center band, identifying the cap as an example worn by an officer serving with the Signals branch.

The front displays hand-embroidered silver bullion officer’s insignia, consisting of a Heer national eagle and an oak-leaf wreath surrounding the national cockade. A silver officer’s chin cord is secured above the black visor by matching pebbled side buttons. The bullion insignia exhibits attractive age toning consistent with the remainder of the cap.

The underside of the leather sweatband is handwritten with the officer’s name, “Leo Krings,” and bears a boxed inspection and unit stamp reading “Geprüft 1./N.32.” This marking identifies the cap with the 1st Company of Nachrichten-Abteilung 32, the divisional signals battalion of the German Army’s 32nd Infantry Division. This unit attribution corresponds perfectly with the cap’s golden-yellow Signals branch piping. The cap is not size marked but measures approximately a large size 59.

The black visor has a vertical crack near the front center that was glued during the postwar period. The repair is stable but remains visible, as photographed. The cap was service worn and displays expected age and use, including light staining and wear to the interior, minor marks to the exterior wool, and age toning to the insignia.

Despite the repaired visor crack, the cap remains in very good to excellent overall condition and retains an attractive shape. Its large size, named sweatband, and unit-related marking make it an especially interesting and desirable Heer Signals officer’s visor cap.
