Unissued Original German WWII Heer/Waffen SS M31 Breadbag Mid War Dated 1943
This is an original German WWII M31 breadbag, as issued to Heer and Waffen SS troops. This example is a highly desirable mid-war production piece, dated 1943, and remains in exceptional, near mint unissued condition.
Constructed of olive-green canvas, the breadbag displays the typical mid-war characteristics, including simplified construction and period-correct materials. The configuration is textbook, featuring three upper belt attachment straps, steel hardware, and D-rings for securing field equipment such as the canteen and mess kit.
The belt hook strap retains a very faint but visible “43” date stamp, confirming 1943 manufacture. As often seen on unissued or lightly handled examples, the marking is lightly applied but still discernible.
Condition is outstanding. The canvas is extremely clean and retains a crisp, firm feel throughout, showing only minimal storage wear. All straps are fully intact with strong stitching, and the original buttons and hardware remain in excellent condition with only light age toning. The leather reinforcement tabs are supple and well-preserved, with no significant cracking or damage.
A superb near mint example of a mid-war M31 breadbag, very difficult to upgrade, and ideal for the advanced collector or for a high-end display or mannequin setup.
