This German Army winter cap was made for wear in cold weather. It features a fieldgray wool crown surrounded by thick brown rabbit fur, with a broad fur-covered front and long side and rear flaps. The flaps can be folded up around the crown or lowered to cover the ears and back of the neck. The original tie cords have been removed. The wool crown retains its shape, and the fur remains full overall, with natural variation in color and texture. The cap shows expected age and use, including light wear and marks to the fabric lining.
The interior has a brown fabric lining, while the reverse of the flaps shows quilted stitching. There appears to a be a size stamping either 58 or 59.
