Original German WWII Infantry Assault Badge In Silver (Unmarked)
Introduced in 1939 by Generaloberst Walther von Brauchitsch. It was awarded to Officers, and EM/NCO's of non-motorized, Infantry, and Mountain Infantry units. Eligibility for the award required participation in at least 3 separate infantry assaults.
Original German WWII Infantry Assault Badge in Silver featuring the national eagle above a K98 rifle with fixed bayonet, surrounded by an oak-leaf wreath. The badge is constructed from zinc and is unmarked.
Most of the original silver finish has worn away, leaving a dark, aged patina throughout. The tip of the bayonet is broken off, and the rear catch is also missing. The area where the catch was located appears to have been carefully filed smooth. The original pin remains present but is slightly bent.
Despite its condition, the badge retains a good amount of detail throughout the eagle, oak-leaf wreath, and K98 rifle. Overall, this is a well worn, service used example offered in good condition.
