This Luftschutz helmet is an authentic artifact from World War II, finished in the characteristic dark blue paint associated with German civil defense helmets. The front retains a very attractive and well-preserved Luftschutz winged decal. Interior ink stampings remain visible and the helmet is fitted with its original liner and chinstrap assembly. Size 58.
EXTERIOR
Shell: Retains the majority of its original dark blue finish with honest period wear throughout. Various scratches, scuffs, and areas of light surface rust are present from age and use. The shell displays the typical multi-hole Luftschutz ventilation pattern. The Luftschutz decal remains complete and highly visible with only minor scratching and wear.
INTERIOR
Shell: Interior retains original factory paint with visible period printed distribution markings reading: “Vertrieb genehmigt gemäß §8 Luftschutzgesetz” (“Distribution approved according to Section 8 of the Air Protection Law”). The size marking “Kopfweite 58” is also partially visible but mostly worn away from age. Retains original factory stamped marking RL 2-38/28 approval code. Some scattered age oxidation is present around the inner rim.
Liner: Original leather liner remains supple and in excellent condition with only light wear from age. Retains original tie string and black leather support bands.
Chinstrap: Original chinstrap assembly remains present and in excellent condition.
CONDITION
