This Luftschutz helmet is an authentic artifact from World War II, finished in the characteristic dark blue paint associated with German civil defense helmets. The front retains a very attractive and well-preserved Luftschutz winged decal. Interior ink stampings remain visible and the helmet is fitted with its original liner and chinstrap assembly. Size 58.
EXTERIOR
Shell: Retains the majority of its original dark blue finish with scattered scratches, scuffs, and honest wear from age and service use. Some light surface oxidation is visible around the outer rim and high points. The Luftschutz decal remains highly visible and well preserved with only minor wear and scratching. The shell features the typical six-hole ventilation pattern associated with Luftschutz gladiator helmets.
INTERIOR
Shell: Interior retains original factory paint with visible printed distribution markings reading: “Vertrieb genehmigt gemäß §8 Luftschutzgesetz” (“Distribution approved according to Section 8 of the Air Protection Law”). The size marking “Kopfweite: 58” remains partially visible. Also retains the original factory stamped approval code “RL 2-38/28”.
Liner: Original leather liner remains present but shows age and dryness. One liner finger is broken/torn and there is scattered wear from age and use. Original tie string remains present.
Chinstrap: Original chinstrap remains attached and complete. The leather shows age and wear but remains in excellent condition overall.
CONDITION
