Original German Pre-WWII Luftwaffe Aluminum Belt Buckle by Schmöle & Comp.
This is an original Luftwaffe aluminum belt buckle. It is constructed of stamped aluminum and features the Luftwaffe eagle, centered within an oval oakleaf wreath. The pebbled background is still nicely visible. The strike remains well defined, with clear detail to the eagle, feathers, and wreath elements. There is slight toning with visible age and wear. Most of the original paint is missing throughout.
The reverse displays the typical catch, bar, and prong configuration, consistent with known examples produced by Schmöle & Comp. of Menden. The casting characteristics and hardware setup align well with this maker, which is known for producing quality aluminum buckles during the period. While not visibly marked, the construction and detailing are indicative of this manufacturer.
Condition is good, showing honest service wear and age. The aluminum retains a pleasing matte tone with light surface wear consistent with handling and period use. The reverse remains clean, with all hardware intact and functional. Overall, this buckle remains in good condition.
