Original German WWII Heer/Waffen SS M35 Reissued Helmet Size 64

EXTERIOR
This M35 helmet shell shows clear evidence of wartime reissue refurbishment, having been factory overpainted in a dark fieldgray textured finish. This reissue coating is present on both the exterior and interior of the helmet, consistent with depot refinishing practices.

No decals were reapplied following refurbishment, making this a no-decal reissue example that could have seen service with either Heer or Waffen SS units. The original factory markings, including maker, size, and lot number, are no longer visible due to the thickness of the reissue paint.

The exterior finish displays honest service wear throughout, with scattered scratches, scuffs, and areas of surface oxidation. The textured paint remains well adhered, with a worn, matte appearance that reflects prolonged field use. All three split pins are present and retain a good amount of their reissue paint.

INTERIOR
The interior is also fully coated in the reissue-applied textured fieldgray paint, further confirming its refurbishment. The helmet retains its original aluminum liner band, non-reinforced, fitted with a size 57 leather liner dated 1937, which is likely original to the helmet.

The leather liner is extremely dry and has become fragile over time, with several sections cracked, torn, and partially separated. Despite this, portions remain intact, and the original drawstring is still present.

The felt padding beneath the liner band shows age and wear, with some areas appearing slightly moth damaged.

The helmet retains its original chinstrap. The shorter section remains complete, while the longer section is partially broken. Both sections are heavily worn and dry but still retain their original aluminum hardware and studs.

CONDITION
Overall, this helmet is in good combat used condition with clear signs of reissue and extended service life. The shell remains solid with a well-preserved textured reissue finish, while the interior components show significant damage, age and wear.

This example would make an excellent restoration project for those looking to carefully restore, or it can be left as-is, preserving its untouched, honest “battlefield bring home” character.
