Original German WWII MG34/MG42 Machine Gunner's Late War Tool Pouch Marked "hjh4"
This is an original late-war German WWII MG34/MG42 Machine Gunner's Tool Pouch, manufactured from blackened leather and intended to carry the specialized tools and spare parts required for the maintenance of the MG34 and MG42 machine guns. During the war these pouches were carried on the equipment belt or attached to the gun crew's field gear, making them an essential accessory for German machine gun teams.
This example is clearly maker marked "hjh4" under the flap and bears a crisp Waffenamt WaA280 acceptance stamp. The pouch appears to have seen wartime or postwar service with another country.
The pouch retains its original internal wooden reinforcing plate, although most of the securing rivets are now missing. The internal spring used to retain the MG bolt is also missing. The leather remains solid throughout with an attractive dark finish showing honest field wear and age. The closure strap is present but broken at the tip, preventing it from fastening securely. The stitching on one corner of the lid has begun to separate, although the pouch remains structurally sound. The original belt loops and rear steel D-ring are both intact.
