Original German WWII NSKK Leaders Chain Dagger RZM M7/66 By Carl Eickhorn With Chain Hanger

This is an original NSKK (National Socialist Motor Corps) Leader's chain dagger, complete with its correct and desirable chain hanger. The blade is RZM marked M7/66 for Carl Eickhorn, Solingen, and dated 1942, confirming wartime production.

Fittings & Grip:
The nickel-plated fittings show light, even wear with a pleasing, uniform patina consistent with age. The crossguards retain good definition, with only minor surface marks from handling.

The wooden grip exhibits an attractive reddish-brown tone with a smooth, well-preserved surface and visible grain. It retains the correctly inset SA roundel at the upper portion and a detailed nickel eagle at center. Both insignia remain tight, with honest age patina. There is some typical handling wear and light impressions to the grip, but no structural issues.

Blade:
The blade is in excellent condition overall. The obverse retains a bright finish with highly visible cross-graining, and the motto “Alles für Deutschland” remains crisp and well-defined. The reverse is clearly stamped with the RZM logo over M7/66 and the date 1942. There is light surface wear, minor spotting, and faint runner marks, all consistent with age and scabbard draw, but the blade presents very well.

Scabbard:
The scabbard is finished in black paint, which appears largely original, though there may be some period touch-up. It shows expected surface wear, scratches, and age-related marks throughout. It should be noted that the scabbard appears to have been modified at some point, and the fittings and screws show signs of having been previously worked or adjusted.

The dagger fits somewhat tight within the scabbard, which is worth noting, but despite this, the scabbard remains solid, complete, and displays well.

NSKK Chain Hanger:
The chain hanger is complete and displays nicely, featuring the correct linked construction with alternating NSKK eagle, sun wheel swastika, and Thurs rune motif panels. The details throughout the links remain sharp and well-defined. The reverse of one link is correctly stamped “Musterschutz NSKK Korpsführung” along with “RZM M5/8,” indicating manufacture by Assmann & Söhne of Lüdenscheid.

The chain has had a repair utilizing an original sunwheel link, which is slightly different in tone and appearance from the others (see photos), though all components are period original. The chain remains solid and fully functional.

The leather belt loop shows honest wear, age, surface cracking, and oxidation to the metal hardware. Despite this, it remains intact and suitable for display.

Portepee:
Not included.

Overall:
A desirable and honest NSKK chain dagger by Carl Eickhorn, priced accordingly. While the scabbard shows modification and the chain has a period repair, the dagger remains a solid, attractive, and complete example. These NSKK chain daggers typically range between $3,500–$4,000, making this a strong value for a collector seeking an original example with character and correct components.
