This original example features the desirable coarse thread pattern. The interior base is stamped with a maker’s trademark, consistent with period Bakelite field equipment manufacture, but made from a Urea resin plastic material. Designed with a quarter-turn locking lid, it was used to store butter, margarine, jam, or cheese rations in the field.
Condition is good overall with honest period wear. Surface scratching and light scuffing are present, consistent with field use and age. Threads engage properly and lid screws down securely. There is the soldiers last name scratched on the back of the butterdish. Overall in very good to excellent and in usable condition.
