Original German WWII Panzer Assault Badge “25” Engagement Unmarked JFS (Josef Feix & Söhne)
Offered is an original German WWII Panzer Assault Badge with “25” engagements, attributed to production by Josef Feix & Söhne (JFS) of Gablonz. While unmarked, the badge exhibits the well-documented design characteristics and construction traits associated with JFS manufacture.
The badge features the classic Panzer Assault design with a detailed Panzerkampfwagen IV advancing over a ground base, surrounded by an oak leaf wreath and surmounted by the Wehrmacht eagle clutching a swastika. The separate “25” engagement clasp is present at the base, indicating award for participation in twenty-five armored assaults, and retains a pleasing darker finish that contrasts nicely against the lighter-toned wreath.
Constructed in zinc, this example displays correct two-piece construction, with the tank affixed to the wreath—typical of this maker. The silver finish shows honest age and wear, with areas of oxidation and natural darkening consistent with wartime zinc production. The tank retains much of its darker original finish, with good detail remaining in the tracks, road wheels, and superstructure.
The reverse retains its original hardware setup, including a crimped hinge, banjo pin, and flat wire catch assembly consistent with JFS manufacture. The hinge exhibits the correct block style, and the catch remains intact and fully functional. The reverse shows an even, untouched patina with light surface wear typical of age.
Examples of this scarce “25” engagement badge are increasingly difficult to find on today’s market, with comparable pieces currently being offered elsewhere in the $3,500–$3,800 range.
