Original German WWII Heer M40 Single Decal Helmet Q64
An original German WWII Heer Model 1940 single decal combat helmet retaining its wartime-applied field gray textured finish and original factory-applied Heer eagle decal. This helmet has an attractive untouched appearance with honest service wear and age throughout.
EXTERIOR
The exterior shell retains a pleasing amount of its original factory paint with scattered scratches, wear, oxidation, and age patina consistent with wartime use and long-term storage. The Quist Heer decal remains partially visible on the left side of the helmet, showing moderate period wear while still displaying good character and authenticity. The shell has a strong combat-used appearance that collectors appreciate in untouched examples.
INTERIOR
The interior retains its original liner band, leather liner, and chinstrap. The leather liner is heavily worn from age and use, with several liner fingers shrunken and torn at the drawstring hole. Despite the damage, the liner remains present and attached to the helmet. The original drawstring is still retained within the liner. The chinstrap is original to the helmet and remains attached, although it appears to have been slightly shortened during its service life.
The shell is maker marked “Q64,” indicating production by Quist, Esslingen in size 64. The helmet retains its original rolled edge, factory-installed vent holes, and split pins, all showing matching age and patina.
CONDITION
Overall, this is a solid untouched German WWII Heer M40 single decal helmet with strong display appeal, original components, and honest wartime wear throughout.
