Original German WWII Heer/Luftwaffe Splinter "A" Early War Zeltbahn (Unmarked)
This is an original wartime German Zeltbahn in the classic Splinter “A” camouflage pattern, as issued to both Heer (Army) and Luftwaffe (Air Force) personnel. This example represents a pre to early war production piece identifiable by its aluminum buttons and grommets. In 1940 they began making them with steel buttons and grommets. The Zeltbahn was a versatile piece of field equipment designed to serve as an individual rain cape, camouflage covering, or shelter quarter. Multiple Zeltbahnen could be buttoned together to construct larger field shelters.
This camouflage zeltbahn remains well defined, vibrant colors on both Spring/Summer & Fall/Winter sides. All grommets, buttons, and 2 original ropes are intact. The zeltbahn does have some very small holes throughout and there is a L-shaped rip near the neck piece (pic 6) that could be repaired.
Overall, this is a solid, honest wartime Splinter A zeltbahn is in very good condition. Refer to photos for details and actual condition.
