Original German WWII Heer/Luftwaffe Splinter "A" Late War Zeltbahn (RB Numbered, Dated 1944)
This is an original wartime German Zeltbahn in the classic Splinter “A” camouflage pattern, as issued to both Heer (Army) and Luftwaffe (Air Force) personnel. This example represents a mid to late war production piece identifiable by its steel buttons and grommets. Before 1940 they were made with aluminum buttons and grommets. The Zeltbahn was a versatile piece of field equipment designed to serve as an individual rain cape, camouflage covering, or shelter quarter. Multiple Zeltbahnen could be buttoned together to construct larger field shelters.
This camouflage zeltbahn remains well defined, mostly vibrant colors on both Spring/Summer & Fall/Winter sides. All grommets and 1 original rope are intact. Unfortunately there are approximately 20-22 buttons missing. There is visible rust on quite a grommets and buttons. The zeltbahn does have a few small holes (dime and nickel size) throughout. The zeltbahn is RB Numbered and dated 1944 (pic 8).
Overall, this is a solid, honest wartime Splinter A zeltbahn is in good condition. Refer to photos for details and actual condition.
