Original German Pre-WWII SA (Sturmabteilung) Brass Belt Buckle
A genuine and early example of a German SA (Sturmabteilung) belt buckle, constructed of brass and featuring the classic political design. The obverse displays the NSDAP eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreath enclosing a swastika, surrounded by a finely detailed oakleaf border. The details remain well struck, with the eagle and wreath retaining strong definition.
The SA was a paramilitary organization associated with the NSDAP in Germany. It was formed in the early 1920s and played a major role in the party’s rise to power.
This example shows the desirable early war brass construction, which was later replaced by steel as wartime material shortages increased. The buckle has a rich patina throughout, with a pleasing mix of golden brass tones and darker age oxidation, giving it an authentic appearance.
The reverse retains its original catch, bar, and prong configuration. The hardware shows heavy surface oxidation and rusting, particularly to the steel components, consistent with age and storage. Despite this, the structure remains intact and original.
Condition is good overall.
