Original German WWII Tropical Gas Cape Bag (Gasplane Tasche) Marked "gdn Tp"
This authentic Gas Cape Bag was designed to carry a "Gas Cape" (Gasplane)—a protective fabric used by soldiers to shield themselves from chemical gas attacks during combat.
Constructed of a heavy cotton material, the bag is very slightly stiff. The exterior shows some period wear and there is some surface soiling and fading/bleach-like spots, and creasing typical of use and long term storage.
The flap is secured by 2 snaps, both present and firmly attached, but do exhibit some rust/oxidation.
The reverse side features 2 attached fabric loops. There is a maker stamp "gdn Tp" under the closure flap signifying it was made by Wilhelm Stermann, and Tp stands for "Tropen" (Tropical).
There are a couple of holes on the reverse side, bottom left - one is very small, the other is approx 1-1.25" long.
Overall still remains in good/decent condition.
