Original German WWII Tropical Gas Cape Bag (Gasplane Tasche) Marked "gdn"
This authentic Gas Cape Bag was designed to carry a "Gas Cape" (Gasplane)—a protective fabric used by soldiers to shield themselves from chemical gas attacks during combat.
Constructed of a heavy cotton material, the bag retains its characteristic soft feel. The exterior shows some period wear, but there is little to no surface soiling and minimal creasing typical of use and long term storage. The flap is secured by 2 snaps, both present and firmly attached, but do exhibit some rust/oxidation. There is a maker stamp "gdn" under the closure flap signifying it was made by Wilhelm Stermann, of Moers. The reverse side features 2 attached fabric loops. There is a period repair with zig zag stitching on the reverse side and it is nicely reinforced on the inside.
Overall still remains in very good condition.
