Original German WWII War Merit Cross 1st Class With Swords Marked L11 By Wilhelm Deumer
This is an original German WWII War Merit Cross 1st Class with Swords (Kriegsverdienstkreuz 1. Klasse mit Schwertern), manufactured by Wilhelm Deumer of Lüdenscheid.
The silver-colored cross features finely pebbled arms, crossed swords and a central swastika surrounded by an oak-leaf wreath. The plain reverse is equipped with a vertical pin, barrel-style hinge and retaining catch. The reverse is clearly maker marked “L/11,” the LDO code assigned to Wilhelm Deumer.
The cross displays age toning and wear to the silver finish, particularly on the raised areas and reverse. A considerable amount of the finish remains on the reverse, although there is scattered darkening and finish loss throughout. The front retains strong details and presents nicely. The pin and catch remain intact. Overall, the cross is in very good to excellent condition.
