Original German WWII Non-Matching k98 Bayonet By Carl Eickhorn (cof) with 1937 Frog
This is an original German K98 bayonet, manufactured by Carl Eickhorn. The bayonet and scabbard are non-matching, but together form a solid wartime set.
Blade:
The blade retains a good portion of its original dark wartime blued finish with signs of age toning. One side of the ricasso (the top of the blade directly below the grip and hilt) is clearly maker stamped “cof”; the other side bears the serial number "4111 n".
Handle:
The handle features a dark brown Bakelite grips in very good condition, showing tight fit with no cracks or repairs, secured by the correct screws. The pommel and crossguard have lost their dark finish due to use and age, with a functional locking button and release mechanism. There is minor wear.
Scabbard:
The scabbard is serial numbered “1544”. It exhibits some factory bluing along with minor surface oxidation throughout, but remains free of major dents or structural damage, maintaining a solid form and proper fit.
Frog:
The bayonet is accompanied by an original leather frog, which is maker-marked and dated 1937 on the reverse, with a unit marking above the maker stamp. The cross strap has been removed. The leather shows age and wear from storage. As always, aged leather should be handled with care to preserve its integrity.
Condition:
Although the bayonet and scabbard are non-matching, the set remains in solid, collectible condition.
