Original German Pre-War HJ Nickel Plated Belt Buckle RZM Marked M4/39 By Assmann & Söhne
This is an original German WWII H-Youth (H-jugend) nickel plated belt buckle manufactured by
F.W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid, as identified by the RZM maker code
M4/39 stamped on the reverse.
Constructed of nickel-plated steel, the buckle features the classic Hitler Youth design consisting of the HJ diamond surmounted by a national eagle, encircled by the raised motto “Blut und Ehre” ("Blood and Honor"). The details to the eagle, diamond, and lettering remain sharp and well defined, while the nickel-plated finish is largely intact, showing only scattered age-related wear, light oxidation, and surface marks from handling and service use.
The reverse retains its original catch, prongs, and roller bar assembly, all of which remain secure and fully functional. The buckle is clearly marked with the RZM roundel and M4/39, identifying production by Assmann & Söhne, one of the most recognized wartime buckle manufacturers. An additional Assmann logo is also present to the right of the maker code.
Overall, this is a clean and attractive example of a wartime HJ buckle by a desirable maker, retaining excellent detail and display appeal.
