Original Imperial German Pre-WWI & Post-WWI Commemorative Medals Lot of Two
This lot consists of two original Imperial German and post-WWI veterans’ commemorative medals.
The first is a pre-WWI commemorative medal associated with the Hannoversches Füsilier-Regiment Generalfeldmarschall Prinz Albrecht von Preußen Nr. 73. The front features a portrait of Prince Albrecht of Prussia, the battle honor “Colombey 14.8.1870,” and additional commemorative inscriptions. The reverse bears a laurel wreath and the inscription “Erinnerung an das 100-jährige Stiftungsfest,” meaning “In Memory of the 100th Anniversary Celebration.” It is suspended from an enamel membership-style bar numbered “73.” The medal retains an attractive age-darkened bronze patina with normal wear.
The second is a post-WWI German veterans’ merit cross featuring the Kyffhäuser Monument on the front. The reverse is inscribed “Für Verdienste im Kriegervereinswesen,” meaning “For Merit in Veterans’ Association Service.” It is maker marked H. Timm, Berlin on the suspension area. The original ribbon is missing, and the medal displays age-related toning and surface wear.
Both pieces remain in good overall condition and are sold together as a lot of two.
