Original Imperial German WWI Prussian Officer’s Pickelhaube Eagle Helmet Plate, Helmet Removed *U.S. Bringback*
Original gilt-finish Prussian officer’s eagle front plate removed from a Pickelhaube helmet. The crowned eagle holds a scepter and orb, with the “Mit Gott für König und Vaterland” motto displayed across its wings. Fine feather and crown details remain visible.
The plate was originally curved to fit the front of a helmet but has been bent nearly flat, reportedly by the U.S. soldier who brought it home. Both screw mounting posts on the reverse have been shortened. One wing has visible damage that appears consistent with an impact, possibly from shrapnel, although the cause cannot be confirmed. There is scattered finish wear, discoloration, and age-related patina, particularly around the damaged area.
Overall in very good condition.
