Original Imperial German WWI M17 Steel Helmet With Liner Si66

An authentic and untouched Imperial German WWI Model 1917 steel combat helmet retaining its original factory-applied field gray finish and original liner system. This honest battlefield-used example displays excellent character and age throughout, making it a desirable representative example of the iconic German Stahlhelm used during the First World War.

The shell retains its original textured wartime paint both inside and out, showing the expected wear, scattered oxidation, scratches, and age patina accumulated over more than a century. The overall appearance remains completely untouched and original, with no evidence of restoration or repainting. Both extended ventilation lugs remain intact and solid.

The interior retains its original three-pad leather liner attached to the original steel liner band. The leather pads remain complete but show noticeable dryness, stiffness, and age cracking from long-term storage and use. The original pillow pads are still present inside the liner pockets, a highly desirable feature often missing on surviving examples. The split pins remain firmly attached and retain traces of their original paint with only minor wear visible.

The shell is maker marked “Si66,” indicating production by Eisenhüttenwerk Schlesien of Paruschowitz, with the shell size being 66. No chinstrap is present.

Overall, this is a very attractive untouched Imperial German WWI M17 helmet exhibiting strong originality, honest service wear, and desirable complete liner components with surviving pillow pads. A very solid example of a classic First World War German combat helmet.

Measures approximately: Size 66 shell / liner size approximately 58/59.
