Original German WWII M35 Luftwaffe Double Decal Helmet SE64
This is a completely original example of a German WWII Luftwaffe M35 Double Decal Combat Helmet, produced by Sächsische Emaillier und Stanzwerke (SE) in size 64 with a size 57 liner.
EXTERIOR
The helmet retains its original dark blue-gray Luftwaffe finish, showing honest service wear throughout. The exterior exhibits scattered scratches, scuffs, finish loss and areas of oxidation, particularly across the crown and other high points. Despite the wear, a substantial amount of the original factory finish remains. (The decal is censored not altered.)
The right side retains its 2nd Pattern Luftwaffe eagle decal. The eagle remains readily identifiable and displays considerable detail, with expected wear and scattered losses from age and service. (The decal is censored not altered.)
The opposite side retains the national tricolor shield decal, which remains quite vibrant with strong coloration. The shield exhibits scratches and areas of finish loss but is still very well defined. The combination of both surviving decals gives this helmet an especially attractive appearance.
INTERIOR
The interior retains its original leather liner with all eight fingers present. The leather remains supple and exhibits normal darkening, staining and wear from use. The liner fingers retain their ventilation holes, and the original liner drawstring is present. The liner is stamped size "57". The interior bears a partially legible black unit stamp, apparently reading “Fl. Ers. Abt. 13,” provisionally identified as "Flieger Ersatz Abteilung 13". Green paint is present inside the dome, with scattered small specks also visible on the leather liner. The date and circumstances of this paint application are unknown.
The helmet is complete with a original Luftwaffe issue brown chinstrap that is visibly marked and dated "1939" (photo 20). It is in very good condition.
The interior skirt retains its original factory finish and clearly displays the "SE64" maker/size stamp along with the "3796" lot number.
CONDITION
This original M35 Luftwaffe double decal helmet is in excellent condition. With both decals remaining clearly visible, its original liner and chinstrap present, and matching service wear throughout, it displays exceptionally well while retaining the character expected from an original used helmet.
