Original Pre-WWII NSKK (Nationalsozialistisches Kraftfahrkorps) 2nd Pattern Leather Motorcycle Crash Helmet with RZM Tag Size 59This is an original 2nd Pattern NSKK (Nationalsozialistisches Kraftfahrkorps / National Socialist Motor Corps) motorcycle crash helmet, an impressive early piece of NSKK motorized headgear. The NSKK adopted this general style of protective leather crash helmet from the earlier Motor-SA, with the first pattern distinguished in part by its large early-style national eagle insignia.
EXTERIOR:
Mounted prominently to the front is the 2nd pattern NSKK metal eagle. This eagle displays the letters "NSKK" unlike the 1st pattern eagles that did not. The example presented here has an overall nice patina with nice crisp details. The exterior leather exhibits scattered scratches, crazing, and moderate finish loss in scattered areas. The wear is consistent throughout and gives the helmet an appealing service-like appearance. The side and rear panels and straps are still intact.
INTERIOR:
The original soft leather liner and drawstring are nicely still intact. There is some age related visible finish loss on the inside dome. There is a detailed RZM tag dated 1937 (photo 19) and size 59 ink stamp (photo 17).
CONDITION:
