Original Pre-WWII RADwJ (Reichsarbeitsdienst der weiblichen Jugend) Sleeve Shield Group XXVIII
This is an original Reichsarbeitsdienst der weiblichen Jugend (RADwJ) sleeve shield for Group XXVIII, the women’s section of the German Labor Service during WWII.
The shield is a machine-woven (BeVo) construction on brown rayon backing, featuring the RAD emblem of a black swastika within a white circle, flanked by stylized wheat sheaves, above the Roman numerals “XXVIII”. The design is bordered in white within a shield outline. The bottom bears the woven Ges. Gesch. (Gesetzlich Geschützt) marking and manufacturer’s BeVo-style triangle.
The reverse shows the typical fine BeVo weave pattern and trimmed edges where it was cut from the roll. The patch remains in excellent unissued condition, showing only minimal storage wear and no damage.
This shield was worn on the left upper sleeve of the brown RADwJ uniform tunic to denote the wearer’s district group. An excellent and authentic example of a wartime RADwJ unit sleeve insignia, ideal for any WWII German women’s organization or insignia collection.
