Original Pre-WWII Early SS Dagger Full Ground Röhm By Carl Eickhorn With SS Member Serial Number

This is an original early SS dagger produced by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen, featuring a desirable Röhm dedication that has been period factory ground, a well-known and accepted alteration seen on many surviving examples.

Grip & Fittings:
The grip is the correct early black-stained hardwood, exhibiting honest age and handling wear with a rich, dark tone. It retains a properly seated SS roundel, consistent with Eickhorn production, and a sharply detailed nickel-silver high-neck eagle, both showing a pleasing, aged patina.

The grip does show expected period wear, including several hairline cracks and small chips, most notably near the lower crossguard, as shown in the photos. Despite this, the grip remains solid overall.

The dagger is fitted with correct early nickel-silver mounts throughout. The crossguards display a matching patina, with good definition and typical light wear. The lower reverse crossguard is stamped with SS membership number “19722.” While both enlisted/NCO and officer daggers can be found numbered, not all early SS members chose to number their daggers. Additionally, only the enlisted and NCO SS Dienstalterslisten records were largely lost after the war, making definitive attribution difficult.

Importantly, the pommel nut shows no signs of having been turned, supporting that the dagger has not been disassembled.

Blade:
The blade is in very good condition, retaining a bright finish with well-visible cross-graining. The motto “Meine Ehre heißt Treue” remains clearly etched and easy to read.

The reverse displays the early small Carl Eickhorn maker mark. The Röhm inscription has been completely ground, leaving a smooth, even surface that appears with it being period factory done. The blade shows light surface wear, scattered spotting, and typical runner marks, but remains a strong and attractive example.

Scabbard:
The scabbard retains much of its original anodized finish, presenting a deep, even tone with honest age and handling wear. The nickel-silver fittings match well to the dagger and show a consistent patina. The screws appear intact and untouched. Overall, the scabbard is solid, original, and displays nicely.

Condition:
Overall, this is a desirable early SS dagger by Carl Eickhorn featuring a period ground Röhm inscription, untouched construction, and an SS membership numbered crossguard. While showing typical age wear to the grip and light wear to the blade, it remains a solid, authentic, and collectible example with strong eye appeal.
