Rare Original German Pre-WWII “Blut und Ehre” H-Jugend Songbook 1933
This is an original Third Reich-era Blut und Ehre: Lieder der Hitler-Jugend (“Blood and Honor: Songs of the Hitler Youth”) songbook. Published in Berlin in 1933 by the Deutscher Jugendverlag, the book was issued under Reich Youth Leader Baldur von Schirach.
The small cloth-covered book contains approximately 90 German marching, military, patriotic, and Hitler Youth songs printed in traditional Gothic-style script. The front cover retains its original printed title, while the interior has period handwritten notations and red-pencil underlining.
This example shows considerable age and service use. The cloth covering exhibits discoloration, staining, fraying, and wear along the edges and corners. The spine and interior binding are weakened, and several pages toward the back are loose or partially detached. The pages also display toning, scattered staining, small edge tears, and handling wear. The book appears to remain reasonably complete but is being sold as shown because of the loose pages.
A well-used original Hitler Youth songbook with plenty of period character.
