Original German WWII Mother's Cross in Silver (Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter) With Ribbon
This is an original German WWII Mother's Cross in Silver (Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter), awarded in recognition of German mothers who bore six or seven children. Instituted on 16 December 1938, the award features the traditional blue translucent enamel cross with a radiant silver sunburst behind it and a central white enamel medallion bearing the inscription "DER DEUTSCHEN MUTTER" surrounding the black swastika.
The cross is in very good original condition, retaining its rich blue translucent enamel with no noticeable chips or cracks. The silvered finish remains attractive with honest age toning and light wear, giving the piece an untouched appearance. The reverse displays the correct inscription "16 Dezember 1938" along with the facsimile signatures, all of which remain crisp and well-defined.
Included is the original full-length neck ribbon, which has been period sewn together for display or wear. The ribbon shows expected age, light toning, and minor wear from years of storage and handling, complementing the medal's overall period appearance.
