Original German WWII "Die Mitarbeiter des Finanzamtes Jülich" (The Employees of the Tax Office Jülich) Dedication Sash - U.S. Veteran BringbackOffered is an original German WWII commemorative/dedication sash bearing the inscription “Die Mitarbeiter des Finanzamtes Jülich” (“The Employees of the Tax Office Jülich”). While we cannot state with certainty that this piece was specifically used as a funeral sash, it appears to have been associated with a local civic or government-related function connected to the tax office employees of Jülich, Germany.
The sash is constructed of period materials and displays characteristics consistent with wartime manufacture. This example was recently discovered in a barn in the State of Pennsylvania and is believed to be a U.S. Veteran bringback.
Due to prolonged poor storage conditions, the sash exhibits visible staining, age discoloration, fraying, and scattered damage throughout. Despite these condition issues, the sash retains great historical character.
Overall, a scarce and intriguing German WWII-era civic dedication sash with direct ties to Jülich, Germany.
Measures approximately 56" x 8.5" (142cm x 21.5cm).
